Characterization of soil nematode community structure in semi‐arid dryland barley systems

چکیده
Abstract Soil nematode community structure and composition can inform crop managers about soil quality. However, few studies have assessed the under agricultural systems in cool semi‐arid regions such as U.S. northern Great Plains. We of barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) barley–pea Pisum sativum cropping from 2016 to 2018 one tilled two no‐till field experiments dryland management central southwestern Montana. Soils were sampled prior planting spring following harvest late summer nematodes classified genus level via microscopy. Both season moisture stress overwinter explained decline Montana experiments, although consistent impacts or on not detected experiment. Cropping system sequence did impact population p > .1), but yield was positively correlated with larger populations both r .60). The percentage fungivores negatively = –.42) tillage. Plant parasitic .43) These results suggest that factors which enhance cereal growth productivity rather than diversification drive short‐term dynamics when rotations are established regions. Future work is needed determine if changes after several years and, so, what ecosystem services result these transformations.

Microbial Community Composition as Affected by Dryland Cropping Systems and Tillage in a Semiarid Sandy Soil
This study evaluated microbial communities of soil (0–10 cm) as affected by dryland cropping systems under different tillage practices after 5 years. The soil type was an Olton sandy loam with an average of 16.4% clay, 67.6% sand and 0.65 g kg of organic matter (OM). The cropping systems evaluated were grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.)— cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) (Srg-Ct), cotton-winter rye (...

Distribution of the nematode community in a California vineyard was studied over a 13-month period. Omnivorous and microbivorous nematodes were similarly distributed in the root zone, with greatest densities occurring between vine rows and near the soil surface. Greatest densities of plant-parasitic nematodes were found in the vine row, with the individual species differing in their vertical di...

Soil Physical Properties Due to Different Tillage Systems in Dryland Regions of Northwestern Iran
Lack of sufficient information on conservation tillage systems leads to the dominating use of conventional tillage practice in most parts of Iran. Testing other management practices may help in decision making regarding the types of tillage systems that reduce soil deterioration. A three- years field experiment was conducted to study the effects of conventional (CT), reduced (RT) and no-till (N...
متن کاملNematode community structure in desert soils: nematode recovery.
The sugar-flotation-sieving (SFS) and Baermann-funnel (BF) methods were compared for nematode extraction efficiency. The SFS method recovered nematodes from more trophic groups whereas greater total numbers of individuals were recovered by BF. In a test to validate the efficiency of SFS, virtually 100% of the nematodes added to desert soil prior to extraction were recovered by four consecutive ...
